Hey!

I think it'd be cool if we all played some games (war2, war3, CS, HL, Homeworld, Quake2, Quake3, etc...)somtime. So, what I'm proposing is a "TrueNuff Game Night" but what I need is some times that would be great for everyone (that sounds like a hard thing to ask for :o) In any event. What time slot looks good for everyone, we'd probalby only need an hour or two.

I'm thinking saturday or sunday night?

Hey I'm up for some CS, I have a dedicated server if we need one.

And anytime after 6 PM EST is good for me.

CS sounds great! TOo bad right now my ISP is SUCKASS! :D I also have a dedicated CS server: 65.214.59.39:27015 located in Boston, Mass., USA. It can be used for these types of games... especially since it's so empty (it's too new).

Hmm, Counter-Strike is okay for me, not sure about UT cuz my copy is bootlegged (all i need is crappy bots, yay). I've played WAY more Day of Defeat than CS though and I believe DoD could be alot better than washed-up old CS. Been playing a lot of that army game too, mostly cuz its free and not too hard to get (and I don't mind the subliminal messaging). If anyone wants to do that, I'm sniper and airborne certified.

BTW, I've been reading TrueNuff and going to Threeboy's site for a while now, just never bothered to register in forum.

O yeah, and I forgot to mention war3. I have it, but I'm kinda boycotting blizzard cuz they aren't making a PC version of the new Starcraft: Ghost game, which REALLY pisses me off. I know they started off console, but I don't want them to return console, as I hate consoles. A lot.

Unreal Tournament normal or any mods, like Strike Force for instance (i think thats the name, i played it quite some time ago,its a bit like CS).

I played it when the 1st beta was released, Obviousily, it being a beta, I wasn't very motivated to play it... I heard it has gotten big, I remember
where there was 1 server with 0/20 people :P (StrikeForce)

I would really like to play old skool games.

Threeboy

InkLink (www.shockwave.com)
Literatti (games.yahoo.com)

are definate possibilities.

Narfwak
10-02-2002, 12:21 PM
Heh. Let me re-phrase my dislike of consoles. Nintendo (Gamecube, n64, and old skool shiznit) is good, all others suck, and even some nintendo games suck the chode. But, given the current abundance of utterly shamefull shovelware in the PC games industry, the same could be said of PC games.

And yes, Mario ownz.

Anyway, a friend of mine just got UT 2003 and I was thinking of "sharing" his copy, so that might be an option too. Its kinda new though and I don't know if anyone else has it, so probably not. CS is the best option, as it doesn't really suck that much as long as you have cool people in the server with you, and truenuff peeps are most definatly cool people. In addition, bunches of people have it and know how to play, so no learning curve required. Atticus mentioned that he had a server to play on, so it would work out nicely.

I totally agree man! All consoles other than the cube are trash! I mean, i own a PS2, and what do I get to play? GTA3, GT3, Final Fantasy X, Onimusha, Kingdom Hearts, Frequency, Tekken Tag, VF4, AND all those crappy PS1 games we've always heard about. I mean who were the ad wizards that came up with that one? I mean fun totally sucks if it's not on a PC!

good call buddy - you hit it right on the money.

I love SNES. I think it is my favorite console sver and emulators are your friend.

The cream of the crop PC games are the best in the world but it goes the other way too. The other games are super bad shity shit.

Narfwak
10-03-2002, 12:21 PM
ZSNES is sweet. Playing all the old game from the SNES is so cool. I never had a SNES, but a friend of mine did, and we would play all the old Mega Man games for hours. Actually, he would play and I would watch, which was fine cause I sucked at them. The old Atari 2600 also fucking OWNZ; nothing beats tank pong and space invaders. Period. Still, I really don't like the PS2, and XBox is complete trash. Microsoft's evil green box is the reason Halo isn't on the PC yet, and that is reason enough hate the damn thing.

Anyway, back to the game night. I may or may not be able to play this weekend (assuming it is on the weekend), as I may or may not be at a LAN game at the time. But we'll see; the host has broadband so we might all be able to play (only about 4-5 people are gonna be there).

I'm thinking Sat. 8 pm - 3 am sounds like a good time slot, as it allows for those that sleep, such as myself, and late night peeps as well.

Atticus

I love ZSNES becasue of the little Eagle Engine thing that makes it look super neater then SNES games actually look.

Jace101

I use SNES9X. Pretty much as good as ZSNES.

Crap, that won't do. Way to late for me to be starting something online, I have to study this weekend. How bout we start a few hours earlier? Besides, if you don't want to start early you can just show up later, so no big deal.

Threeboy
10-16-2002, 02:56 AM
not this week... gonna try these times the first time around, and then tweak if needed, and now I'm gonna cut and paste a message that I posted at those other forums I run.

*paste*

...Okies, times are looking somethng like this... date is still To be announced, this weekend might be too short of notice (but I might announce it anyway, cause it can be BETA games night ;) ), and next weekend I might a halloween party, week after that looks free though.

9PM Pacific Time
10PM Mountain Time
11PM Central Time
Midnight Eastern Time

first game looks like it's gonna be WarCraft III

TheBloodyToaster

make that an hour earlier for eastern dudes and itll be juuust fine! or if not too bad. but please not War3 me dont have war3

Narfwak
10-16-2002, 02:23 PM
I have WC3 but I'm boycotting Blizz still because SC: Ghost is console only (I think I already mentioned this). So yeah, please not Warcraft. And earlier would be nice, I try to sleep on a regular basis (yes, I know, I have no life).

Zubaz
10-17-2002, 10:47 AM
you're boycotting blizzard? Of all the game developers, Blizzard has probably produced the highest quality games, ever. So when they want to branch out a little and enlighten the console gamers, you jump ship? If your misguided loyalty to the PC was where it should be, you'd be a happier person.

Narfwak
10-17-2002, 12:23 PM
My boycott is only temporary. Blizz does make some of the best games ever (they still aren't Valve though - only made one game four years ago and they still own PC gaming as we know it), but giving Starcraft to a bunch of console users that probably don't even know the storyline or background in Starcraft is pretty stupid. And besides, why can't they make a port to PC? Or just develop for both platforms at the same time? They have shown in the past that they are very good at multiple platform dev. WC3 shipped on one disk for both Mac OS 9 (I think), Mac OS X, and PC. I think Ghost is more an effort to make a big-selling console game than an excellent title overall, and that is what pisses me off.

Back the topic at hand. We need to have earlier times, or I can't go. I sleep. Sorry.

Threeboy
10-17-2002, 06:50 PM
this week will be considered "beta" we'll see how it goes ;)

Lucien
10-18-2002, 01:51 AM
I can't participate in WC3 yet, but how about a rotating games schedule?

Say, per example:

WC3
CS
DOD

And so on..

Threeboy
10-18-2002, 02:09 PM
the games will rotate for sure.

Narfwak
10-18-2002, 02:24 PM
If we are going to rotate games, we should come up with a concrete list of games we want to play. CS and WC3 are obvious, DoD would be great but not as many people have it. I know this is still just "beta", but we should get as much of it planned and set straight anyway.

Anyhoo, here is my ideal list of games:
CS - Everyone has it, perfect choice.

WC3 - Excellent game, many people have it, and my boycott ends 'cause it's not getting me anywhere.

DoD - If you don't have it, get it. You'll thank me later.

UT (maybe) - S'okay, but it is getting a bit old; it isn't as much a given as CS or WC3, and lacks DoD's amazing balance and utter coolness (HL never gets old; Valve feeds it immortality juice or something)

Firearms (HL mod) - Very fun mod, and it is pretty balanced now. Not many people have it though, so only a possibility

In regards to online java games - probably not as good an idea. They don't tend to give you as much overall fun and entertainment value as a true PC game, and some are just too simplistic. It still might work; I'd rather stick to "real" games though.

Other peeps should make suggestions too; I'm just trying to get the ball rolling.

Sorry I couldn't show up, just too damn late after I had been playing games for six hours straight. How was stuff?

Anyway, about the playing games for six hours straight thing. This place called Spider Gaming just opened up downtown, its kinda like an internet cafe wihtout the cafe and a massive amount of games and bandwidth. They were having free "beta testing" all weekend to make sure things are ship-shape before they open for real, so I was there all weekend. I also helped him (the owner) get the server set up, so I'm an admin and might not have to pay to go (tight!).

How does this relate to The Game Night? Well, Spider has a 1.1 mps connection (up/down) and uber-nice computers, so the server is fucking FAST. I proposed that we host The Game Night on Spider's server, and he (the owner again, my pronouns suck) thinks it could be a good idea. Other peeps seem to have servers though, but I just thought I'd let you know.

The server's name/game/ip:
Iowa City Spider Gaming/cstike/67.41.89.1:27015 - visit some time

Threeboy
