Modding CS1.6

I hate all the standard stuff in CS, I've always used new skins, consoles, menus, everything i could. But now with Steam, the files I want to change aren't just sitting there, it takes some effort. So I was trying to hunt down some way to extract files from the cache.

I got side tracked, and the result is this:

Brand new splash screen! I made it myself. Even put in all the kanji myself! (And then promptly forgot all the meanings. oops!)

I'm so happy and proud! :Þ It's so damn easy to do as well!

If anyone works out how to extract stuff from the cache by the way, let me know! I want player models (so I can change the animations from my old models and make them compatable) and the new maps (so I can use them on the work 1.5 server) for a start, but other things as well.

Well, what do you mean, do you want to use the standard files to mess with, or do you just want to add new skins?

What are you trying to do?

here, if you want to add new skins go to

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\youremail\counter-strike\cstrike\models\

Also. If you want to use the ones already there, just go to the same place.

I want to know where I can find the background for the splash screen.
SlÃ*ine changed it, and now I want to know how I can.

I know how to change models, sounds, sprites, skins, the startup music, but I dont know how to change the splash screen. Hopefully SlÃ*ine can help me with that. :)

Someone told me a long time ago that it was in the cache, and you had to change it there. -_-

holy cream pie thats a nice arse... errr, i mean, fps. yeah, nice fps... better than mine... thats hella sweet though, NOICE. you should submit that ish to cs sites that archive those kinda things so people can download and use them. im strictly no skins and whatnot though, cuz me and my clan are going to join a league. very nice though, im gonna be glancing that that pic all day
