Threeboy, love the comic you got going. Doubt you remember me but you did some stuff for my old CS clan the Local420.

Since this is an art topic forum, i thought i'd put in a shameless plug for the comic site we rolled out to the public on sunday. it's been getting mass props from just about everyone who's seen it and we think it may take off anytime. just wanted to see what you guys think of it, new comics are posted once a week currently, the first new comic will be posted this sunday.

Feed back is encouraged, post your comments or insults in the forums. Enjoy!

I remember, thanks for the love we've been doing this badboy for like what, three years?

Also, posting once, plugging your shit, and then never posting again is RUDE :o why not get to know the community? Eh? Or buy some banner space and stop being a freeloader! :P

who said i was only going to post once? lol

I plan to stick around and hang with the community. I was at work when i signed up so there wasn't much i could post at the time without getting fired.

aside from that, working on the website takes up alot of my free time so actually posting to a forum anywhere is like a luxury. hell, peace and quiet is a luxury at this point, lol.

actually they consider it quite normal. though they do have to keep a tranquilizer gun encased in glass on the wall now in case i go off on a tangent.

the last time i went off they had to replace 12 employees, 3 of which didn't even deserve to be maimed but they were unfortunate enough to be in the way at the time.

oh, and there's a new comic posted on the site. i'm entertaining the
idea of just going ahead and posting about 3 more full strips just
to give everyone something to check out while we're still getting our
sh!t together.

Hey Threeboy, care if i post one of your banners on the site once we've made room for them?

Catch 22.

I think I have flies in my eyes, but because I've got flies in my eyes I can't see that I've got flies in my eyes, so maybe I don't have flies in my eyes.

Aw man, now my brain hurts.

Sláine

Read it. It's set in the second world war, and is great. Full of catch 22's funnily enough. By Joseph Keller I THINK.

Ok, i just had to share this. An issue with Cubicle101.com and my job has come up, which was only a matter of time. Here's the scoop....

Yesterday my $boss calls me into his office. He informs me that a member of $upper-management has taken offense to one of the characters in the comic as he thinks that this character was made to look like him or represent him. They "told" me not to draw anymore characters that resemble members of $management.

I quickly responded, "kiss my ass" and informed them that the character in no way was designed to look like anyone in $management so if they take offense to it, tough shit. Last night I popped up a disclaimer on all the posted comics. Though I doubt i've seen the end of this issue, i wanted to share this with you guys because i'm sure you'll get a kick out of it.

As i said i doubt i've heard the end of this as of yet so i'll keep everyone posted as things progress.

maelstrom got fired from his last job form making a duke nukem 3D map of his workplace.

0v3rki11
09-25-2003, 07:03 AM
well, this issue is a bit different. this is someone "speculating" that they have been represented without consent in the comic.

the problem is that the character in question was not made to look like or "represent" anyone in any particular fashion, it was just a typical stereotype.

getting fired for creating a duke nukem map seems overbearing as well. but then again i suppose it depends on where you work. if you work for the pentagon, i'm sure they would look down on the fact you created a true to life map for a game that could reveal sensative information.

Threeboy
09-25-2003, 07:15 AM
it was a resturant.

0v3rki11
09-25-2003, 11:01 AM
now that's what i need to do. create a cubicle101 CS map, lol.

man, getting fired for rendering an eating establishment in a video game, that's just rediculous. but then again, the past year or so has seen a good share of resturant killings and people going postal. not sure how that would fit into grounds for removal but who knows in this day and age.

inigoesdr

but then again, the past year or so has seen a good share of resturant killings

I hope you're joking.

0v3rki11
09-25-2003, 12:55 PM
actually no. i've seen all kinds of news reports about people getting shot up in fast food places and restaurants. some of them were actual serial killings targeting specific food chains.

even with what's in the news i'm sure there's hundreds of incidents going on everyday like that around the country and the rest of the world for that matter.

i still see no reason for someone getting fired over creating a game map that resembles a place of buisness. and further more to be threatened by one of my bosses because one of my other bosses wants to make speculative accusations is completely wrong.

Akvj1n
09-25-2003, 01:59 PM
I think he meant someone playing Maelstrom's map and then shooting up a restaurant.

Sláine

maelstrom got fired from his last job form making a duke nukem 3D map of his workplace.

We have had orders from Security that was are NOT, under any circumstances, to make a CS map of even a disused part of our site. Which kinda suchs as the request was actually for Army use. ie run them through the map, let them play a few rounds of CS on it, and see how they go then in real life.

*grrrr* flash......*$#@%#$^%^* dreamweaver.......*bliberaarrgghh timmy* frames......*froth, foam, kill kill kill* site revamp again.......

well, we're at it again. revamping the cubicle to look a bit more websavvy. if anyone is interested in checking the test page to see the layout, you may check it HERE (http://www.cubicle101.com/test/test1.html)

once again, yes we know it looks cheesy, and i was against using frames all together but SOME people on the development crew can't seem to live without them. we're currently debating having a nav bar or just let the nav continue where it's at. i'm really starting to hate flash.

OMG. Do it. You'll show that Randy asshole...

the head office guys will probably get mad at him...but since he fired you...meh...what is he to do?

Plus...the restaurant doesn't look that way anymore.

ok, got some new stats monitoring setup on the site. during that process i figured what the hell and signed up for rankings at buzzcomix.net

traffic is starting to get pretty heavy after the advertisements running on pimprig.com got set up so i'm hoping to see the site start climbing the charts, which is probably wishful thinking but oh well.

ThreeBoy, email me that link to your banners and buttons. i know you gave it to me before but i always lose that stuff unless i have it saved in email or on a notepad, and half the time i lose those too, lol.

And yes, i voted truenuff on every link up there that worked.

hey, anyone got a good suggestion for a php blog script that's moderatly easy to tailor to am existing website design?

against my better judgement i'm adding a blog to the cubicle to pasify some of the users and crew.

well, ive' found some phpbb hacks that, for the most part, do what i want.

what i'm looking for, preferably, is a hack that will pull posts from one specific phpbb topic/thread and post it in a blog type style. i loaded up a hack over my weekend and it pulls everything it can from phpbb and uses it as a portal style sheet.

i just want a script that can only pull from one topic/thread. i've emailed the developer of the script i'm using to see if he can simply it for me which shouldn't be too hard for him. i'm by no means a PHP coder. i can mod the hell out of a php script design but that's about the extent of my PHP knowledge at this point.
