So, um, I guess this is to discover what everyone listens to. To be honest, I don't know who half the musicians are in the What Are You Listening to NOW thread are, so the idea is to post your favourite genre (or genre you're currently exploring) and then maybe a few choice artists within that genre.
Currently I'm exploring some trance, and it's hilarious-slash-awesome. Artists so far are ATB, DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and the KLF. I'm looking for more suggestions if anyone has any.
My fave is soul, though. Get Sam Cooke and Ray Charles for the originality and then any motown, stax and atlantic from the time period for the spinoffs.

BT and Moby did a lot of trance too in their earlier albums and they both crossed over into more beat-oriented stuff. Also Underworld, while not strictly trance (except for shitty remixes) has some incredibly cool trancelike tracks.
As for Soul, it's hard to beat Stevie Wonder.
YAY DJ TIESTO!
James intro'd me to Underworld and it's gooood.

also, HORROR rock is really kool and freakin hilarious...one of my favorite artists is Wednesday 13 who has a couple of solo albums now but before that he was in Frankenstein Drag Queens and the Murderdolls

That's a song, not a genre.

Pumped for what? Certainly not dancinggg.
And I'm aware that that was a song, but it's a part of a good genre?

That's cool MM, but as long as we have a "what are you listening to right now" thread and a "fave genre" thread we might as well keep each for it's purpose. I'm just bein a topic nazi. ;)
Plus I'm at work so I couldn't check out the vid, thus I didn't know who or what kind of music is was. Anywaaayyyy...
I find the type of music I listen to is based on what I need to do or am feeling. While I'll indulge in some Metal on occasion, I'll also throw on some big breakbeats a lot of the time too, or acoustic/roots rock and stuff that would only be classified as "indie" (I don't like that term either, but it's encompasses all of that just-outside-the-mainstream alternative stuff that usually involves guitars and drums in some respect)
