Dirty dog drink - vodskittle

for all those who may have been intrigued, as I was, by the vodskittle - don't go there!
I only like the red skittles, so I brewed a batch, with some cherry liqueur (gotta look perdy) to take away on my weekend jaunt away
let me just say shots of vodskittle as the preferred slam in a drinking game is 'Danger Will Robinson'.
For you purists of the drink - it must have been the cherry liqueur that caused the damage, hey?
I'm now siding with j.rai - I definitely don't condone it

The first version i tried was simple: a bag of skittles dropped into a 75% full bottle of vodka and it looked a lot like carrot juice. The second go was Jeff's and I think he only put in the green and yellow skittles? I think, though he can clarify that one...and it looked nuclear, haha.

I don't know that there were any photos taken. Pictures are fun but when you're drinkin' you don't wanna concern yourself with looks and posing... ;)

Yeah I had a big bag of skittles and sorted out all the greens and yellows - it looked like a glow stick. It takes a few days though, and though you might want to freeze the vodka for serving, wait 'til after the Skittles are dissolved, because they dissolve faster at room temperature.

Agitate vigorously a couple of times a day.

There'll be a lot of insoluble wax that floats at the top of the mix, I tried many different methods of filtering or skimming to remove it but was only moderately successful, and was worried about lower the alcohol content by accident (I'm not sure about that part and didn't want to risk having all the booze evaporate or absorb into the filtering materials).

So I say just keep giving it a shake when you're presenting it so the wax stays mixed in. It's harmless, you would've eaten it anyway if you ate the candy.

Yeah I've tried Vodka infusions before. You have to be pretty patient, but it can be pretty cool. Hard to get a strong flavor though.

Of course vodskittle is more of a solution than an infusion ;) but I see the premise. :D

I tried using the same strainer process for the vodskittle, but the wax clogged up the whole process.

i understand the wax is there already, and eating it on a candy doesnt bother me... but floaties in my drink? not so much...

The floaties are distracting, I'll give you that.

But if you mix the Vodskittle with a carbonated bev, then all the wax attaches to the bubbles and rises above the foam, it's easily scooped out with a spoon then.

You'll never get it all though.
