A year ahead of their next release, Pixar quietly put up a fake-site for the fictional company (http://www.buynlarge.com/) behind their the title character for their next movie, Wall-E (http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/wall-e/).

It's another exercise in Internet marketing for sure, but I think it's notable because of some of the content. The Buy-N-Large company site (http://www.buynlarge.com/) is supposed to exist some years in the future after consumerism and rampant incorporation has left the Earth covered in trash, and a lot of the site has some rather tongue-in-cheek contest prodding at corporate culture and family-friendly advertising, which I find especially ironic since the movie is being released by Disney, one of the largest visible producers of unnecessary things around. There are some stories in the news section (http://www.buynlarge.com/NewsCenter.html) under the headlines "Wisconsin Mall granted City Status" and a story about a guy named Marx winning the "World Shopping Open" that seem pretty weird to see coming from a go.com (http://go.com/) subsite.
Anyway check it out if you want to read some weird, kinda funny stuff.
