Irented The Omen, Posiden, Serving Sara, Undercover Brother. Looooove em all. When I watched The Omen, I made a mistake, I got BAKED and watched it for the first time, never even heard of it till i rented it, so I didn't know what to expect, goddamn I was on the edge of my seat all the time, that kid is a lil fucker geez! Posiden I was Generally lucid and sober for, but I didn't realize till the second time watching it, that "Fergie" from Black Eye Peas is in it. shes got big boobs...

Sláine

Original Posiden for the win.

frickin rented The lake house while i was drunk last night...pretty good. confusing at first but it was...Ok.

Sláine
11-14-2006, 03:37 PM
The Lake House was OK, but my gosh, was it predictable or what? And lets not get into the science behind the whole thing. they were changing history dammit! the poor space time continuum would have torn itself to pieces out of frustration

SiegeTheGrave
11-14-2006, 09:52 PM
lol ya know, my mom rented that movie and i was like "i wanna watch it!" but i didn't get to and she took it back...so then i went and rented it...and what do ya know, i STILL didn't get a chance to watch it...i fuckin hate work...

Loki

SiegeTheGrave

i work at wal-mart in the garden center...there's definitely no way i could watch it at work.

Loki
11-20-2006, 12:14 PM
i could see how that would pose a problem, however, i have the solution, we grow plants that can project tv images!!!!.....oo i saw V for vendetta, it got such bad reviews but i loved it. i also rented drop dead sexy and transporter 2....man i loved transporter 2...mmmmm

Sláine
11-20-2006, 05:21 PM
Transporter 1 was so much better. While some of it was barely plausable, at least it wasn't out and out impossible like in the sequal. And as if set it in the states. Pfft.

Loved V for Vendetta. Was a bit more intellectual than most of the comic based movies out lately. I loved the monologues. Mind you, I heard that it was a poor representation of the comic, so now I want to get the comic.

SiegeTheGrave
11-20-2006, 06:06 PM
i also loved v for vendetta...never read the comics but i heard the bad reviews on the movie. i think those people just weren't smart enough to know what he was saying and all they wanted was some action. but i fuckin loved it.

Jace101
11-21-2006, 04:37 AM
V for Vendetta was good but the political commentary was pretty weak in my opinion. It had the possibility of saying so much more then it did. Still great movie.

Loki

his begining monologue was a fuckin tounge twister it was ballin outta control. while transporter 2 was "outta this world" if you think about it, not alot of movies are plausible, so theres no real differnce between this movie and james bond. (except the fact that ones a transporter and the other the bestest secret agent evers....who was based on a book character who was based on an agent from winnipeg!!)

Threeboy
11-21-2006, 12:37 PM
i laughed tons at transporter 2 but it was still fun as hell to watch.

lol, your trying to show the realism in movies are fairly equal by comparing two of the most unrealistic movies in the action genre? Don't make me slap you! Cause I will....yea. I'm tired.

Loki
11-22-2006, 07:54 AM
well thats my point its action!!!! dont need realism...the only action movie i can think of on the spot that had realism was the italian job.

J.Rai

Hahaha yeah right... got any evidence to back that up man?

Loki
11-23-2006, 08:54 AM
The Winnipeger was Sir William Stevenson. He grew up here and joined the air force. He then became a Canandian Agent and after that became Britain's top spy with the code name intrepid. There is a statue here at legislature of him. The book " A Man Called Intrepid" talked about his life as a spy and the creators of James Bond based their character on him. If thats not enough google "Sir William Stevenson".

Loki
11-28-2006, 10:17 AM
pwned.

J.Rai
11-29-2006, 10:23 AM
No.

I looked up your little friend. I see that he and Fleming worked together, but there is no statement on record that he based Bond on him. I wanted a credible reference, not a "report" or "it is said."

I know of Fleming's quote of "James Bond is a highly romanticized version of a true spy. The real thing is... William Stephenson" but that very statement points out the DIFFERENCE betweent he characters, not the similarities. Fleming working in intelligence for years and knew many agents and was probably (as any good writer should be) inspired by several if not dozens of different people to create his composite character.

And seriously. "Pwned"? Where do you think you are?

Threeboy

Loki

i was goin by the information i received from the school and my teacher and i THINK im in winnipeg buuuudy:P

oh has anyone ever seen requim for a dream? i seen it, man that was one of the most fucked up movies i've seen.

How was district 13? i wanna see it, might rent it tomorrow.

J.Rai
11-29-2006, 12:07 PM
Being in Winnipeg doesn't make it any more credible, and teachers unfortunately aren't authorities on facts any more than anyone else.

Requiem is an killer movie, for so many reasons. But if you want fucked up, check out Mulholland Drive. I know Threeboy will have my back on that one.

Loki
11-29-2006, 12:39 PM
mind you i agree with you j. but as i said i was just passing information that i figured would be credible coming from a teacher, whos fleming btw i've heard of him, but thats it just OF him nothing more:S

whats mulholland drive about?

P.S. next time i guess i'll ignore the information coming straight from the horses mouth...or in this case, ass.(nothing towards you, im speakin aboot the teach.)

J.Rai

whereas Pi just confused me

Jace101

If you guys can you should check out an Aussie film called "The Magician". It was a very low budget film (about $10-$20 thousand). The story is pretty much a mock documentary of a guy following around a professional hitman.

Extremely funny, especially for an Australian audience so I wouldn't be too sure how it would translate for guys like you. I'd say it would still be worth the view if you could get your hands on it.

Threeboy

anyone see that movie World Trade Center?....with good ol Mr. Cage?
i rented that and pirates 2. both were...Ok...trade center kinda got boring....personally i dont think they should of made a movie about it...probably brought back a bunch of horrible feelings and memories for people...it be like making a movie about the amish girl killer.

pirates 2 was good, didn't like how they ended it. i hate movies that end with knowing that there is SUPPOSED to be a sequel.

Jess
12-20-2006, 12:32 AM
Pirates 2 was okay, I didn't pay attention to some of it and got confused. I think I had a headache or something when we went to see it. Should probably watch it again...

I loved Snakes on a Plane. If you expect it to be serious and high brow, you wont enjoy it, but if you expect it to be about a plane filled up with snakes, well, you'll be pleasently surprised. Well, by surprised I mean you'll get what you expected.

Loki
01-17-2007, 12:13 PM
when i watched it i didn't like it, i was bored...yawned alot....i was watchin discovery channel the other day and they said that yawning is a primitive form of communication, when someone yawns its to show theres been a change of atmosphere, and when someone yawns back(its usually automatic) it shows that they either agree or accept the change.

Threeboy
01-17-2007, 04:26 PM
i've heard a few different things about yawns - they're all theory.

koajack
01-17-2007, 11:37 PM
the only thing i know about yawns is that you do them when you are lacking oxygen in your brain.

i know when i almost passed out from lack of oxygen at a concert i couldnt stop yawning and when i asked the doctor why, that is the reason he gave me.

on to movies

i rented the moive HAIR. while watching "i love the 70s" on VH1 they did a thing on this movie and kept playing songs from it. i found out that i knew almost all of the songs. so now im going to watch it and see if it really is as racey as it was made out to be.

has anyone seen it?

Loki
01-19-2007, 09:14 AM
lol i've heard plenty of things too i heard about the lacking of oxygen to the brains thing, but i never got why "yawning is contagious"(cant speeeell) HAIR whats that aboot?

koajack
01-19-2007, 02:38 PM
Hair is a rock opera from the 70s about this guy who is drafted to Vietnam and when he is in NY he runs into this group of hippies.

at least that is what ive heard.

Im watching it tonight, I can fill in more after that.

AndrewH
01-22-2007, 04:47 AM
Hair is awesome!

No-one REALLY knows why yawning is contagious, kinda like what Three said, they're just theories. I had a couple of science profs give different reasons but everyone's pretty concrete on the lack of oxygen thing. Take a look at the Olympics, classic to explain to my little brother that Ian Thorpe didn't need a nap before his race.

Couple of other good movies...Born into Brothels, Wolf Creek if you want to shit yourself anytime you're in the country. Another movie related question, who was the best Bond? Lotta people are giving kudos to Daniel Craig but I dunno...who can beat the Scottish accent!

Threeboy
01-22-2007, 05:33 AM
i've heard yawning is from when humans were tribal - the yawns would sync everyone up and made sure everyone slept at the same time.

Threeboy
01-22-2007, 09:09 PM

it is about a woman named Ayla and her life in prehistoric ice age europe

so far there are 5 books. the 6th and supposed final book is waaaaaay overdue. the author (jean m. auel) takes forever to write each book because she does so much research.

the 5th book took like 15 years or something (i dont know the exact amount of years but i know it was longer than 10) so who knows how long the 6th book will take.

the books in order:
the clan of the cave bear
the valley of horses
the mammoth hunters
the plains of passage
the shelters of stone

FANTASTIC books. Seriously, the movie is crap and barely comes close to the real story.

they actually have real plots and everything.

Pirates-xxx for the win. I wanna hire that movie one day. Mind you, apparently the R rated version is better than the XXX version. The XXX version is just sex with a limited story, but the R rated apparently has a great story.

Loki

Holy crap this threads gone to hell.

J.Rai
02-13-2007, 08:34 AM
hemp seeds are 21% protein, does that mean it might not be healthy? No I mean the fact alone that they are 21% protein does not qualify the food as "healthy" - which usually means to label something as being generally beneficial to your overall physical well-being and state of health, as opposed to just being something your body can "stand."

What I'm trying to do here is illustrate the weakness in your argument. I'm not saying that your conclusion is inherently wrong, but just that you're going to need more support for your claim that apparently drinking a cup full of horse sperm is good for you, especially if you're going to successfully convince anyone. Although I don't think you would ever convince me of that.

Got me?

Loki

Caught the first 10 minutes of Rove, then had to fix a mates net, so stopped watching it. Was a bit meh about it really. Rove hasn't done that much for me since he was on Good News Week.

Mind you, Pete Hellier has turned into a tubby bitch since they were last on. Maybe his response to Belinda Emmett dying was to eat lots of babies or something.

I saw Hot Fuzz for the third time yesterday. tee hee. I less than three that movie so much!

One of the trailers was for 300 tho. First time I've seen the trailer in the cinema. So very nice. And the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack to the trailer always makes me smile. Shame its not in the movie apparently.

300 opens here on Thursday, I can't wait. I'm REALLY tempted to go see it at midnight with a mate.

Finally saw 300. It was good.

But I think the anticipation had built up too much. I think I was expecting it to be the ultimate film to beat all films. Which I didn't find it did.

There were a few bits in it, where I got that guy-smirk on my face, when something ultra-cool happened, and I liked Leonidas's smart-arse conversation with Xerxes, but... yeah.

Visually, I thought it was incredible, and there were a couple of shots that I'll have to put in my all-time favourites list.

With all the time I've had, waiting around for it to come out, I've done quite a lot of reading on the Battle of Thermopylae, ancient Sparta, Xerxes, Leonidas, and everything involved. I guess I wanted more depth to the film, with more attention going into the history of Sparta, the battles Xerxes father had fought prior to this, and I thought, in parts - particularly with the Oracle, and the priests - the stylisic approach was taken too far, as it made absolutely no sense.

Most people in the packed theatre laughed, when that executioner was shown. The fat dude, with blades for arms. Sometimes I thought it just went too over the top to be cool anymore.

But, for what it was made to be - an entertaining slow-motion battle of good versus evil - it was a lot of fun. And, like I said, it did have a few of those ultra-cool moments.

koajack
