So I was sitting here trying a new beer (Molson Canadian) and it got me wondering what kind of beer everyone likes.

I don't want to start any "My beer is better blah blah blah" crap. It is more on a what you like and why. Is it the flavors? The fullness? etc. You don't have to do them all at once. If we do it kind of like the "Whats Playing" thread, we can make this an all around informative topic.

I will start out:

I like Moosehead beer. There is something about the flavor that keeps me drinking it. When I was around 3 or so my family was at a diner and the waitress asked us all what we wanted to drink. Apparantly I pounded the table and said "Bring me a Moosehead". The waitress was first shocked but then figured I was playing around. My dad ordered a Moosehead just so I'd be quiet. When the waitress brought the drinks I immidiately grabbed the beer and started drinking it. The waitress got all mad and said "Well at least wait until I leave the table!"

My mother loves to tell people that (people meaning boyfriends) when they appear surprised to find a female that likes beer.

So anyway someone else give it a shot! :-)

Sleeman Cream Ale seems to be my bottle regular, with Alexander Keiths being my pint regular.

Rickards is also good and is what is in my fridge right now.

I'm not really a drinking man, but I guess I would have to say Heineken.

I just started to drink, and I started with molson coldshots (good if you wanna get drunk really fast on beer). I'm thinking about triyng sleemens honeybrew apparently its the best shit to get. I was also told to get a nice eindian pale (like alexander keiths)

Sleeman's Steam. Got a little bite to it, but it's still smooth. Good argument about the whole "Ice brewed" "Cold-filtered" bullshit argument.

And Guiness. 'Nuff said. IT's the beer that drinks like a meal.

I guess the Guiness that I had was different or something. It wasnt that thick. Which is odd because I had it at an Irish pub too.

I'm so confused

It's not viscously thick necessarily; it is smoother though in texture. The stout, while brewed like an ale, has less natural carbonation, which I think has something to do with the chocolate malt being a little more broken down during the roasting process. You can see that in the cascade when you pour it (properly). What carbonation it has is masked by the bitterness of the chocolate/roasted malt and so it rolls over the taste buds a little more easily (in my opinion).

It's thick like milk is thick, but it's not syrupy. Mmm, refreshing.

YEAH! That is how my drink was.

I never got the joke about being able to cut and eat it.

Most people try a Stout first, but you might wanna try a good Porter. The porter has more of a chocolate malt, both in roast and in flavour, and it's generally a bit lighter going down (but only slighty). Watch that it's not a smoked Porter though. That's more like a Bitter.

well i exactly can't walk into a store and grab a beer. but i've had plenty different cheap kinds and what not and so far i only know what i want in my beers, i just don't know what beer would fit my tastes. so... if you have any suggestions... do tell =]

i like:
1) foaminess
2) no hard crisp, a little's fine, but too much makes it feel bad while it goes down my throat (that sounded wrong, but it's ok!)
3) really dark flavor

Mmmmm dark stouts.

At least I think that is what you would like. :?

for american beer, I like MGD.

I don't. But there are still many good craft breweries in the US, we just don't get their products up here because of shipping restricitions on brews that size. Look to see what's brewed in your area and try those.

Seattle has a great brewery at the Pike Pub. I believe they had a seasonal brew called the Kiltlifter. that was good. A Pale ale I believe. Yum. But that was a lighter beer.

Killians Irish Red is REALLY good.

I hope I spelled that right.

Newcastle has a great nutty flavor too.

Wally's Wheat is a Hefeweizen (HAY-fuh-VITE-zun). Hefe (Heffy!) is a wheat beer that I personally find most refreshing on hot days. It's light and crisp and goes down easy. The traditional way to serve it is with a slice/wedge of lemon on the glass, I think a pilsner glass - ***NOT IN THE BEER!***
People formed the habit of dumping lime wedges into Coronas (barf) and take that further by dumping any citrus into any beer out of habit. I usually punch these people in the testes/ovaries.

Once I get some money I'm going to look into learning brewing. Like large scale craft brewing. I'd love to be a brewmaster, but that's usually a family tradition or something.

I did that once. But the headaches turned me back off after a bit. A lot of impurities in beer as it is, cheap beer even more.

I don't mind MGD every once in a while.
