Dude... It is a massive free lan that has free stuff and just happens to be sponsored by ID. They will have servers Running COD and CS as well as ID games and other games that get suggested in the Quakecon forums.

Texas is far away, but St. Paul isn't and I can most likely catch a ride there. I still wouldn't do it because I don't feel like riding with someone I don't know.
If I had the chance to go to QuakeCon or Penny-Arcade's lan party, I would. But getting there would be the problem.
I would only drive if a couple of friends were coming with me. We could have a road trip. But that would take a long time.
Flying is expensive. Getting my computer through security would suck, unless it was a laptop, which I don't have. If I did get my computer through security I would be worrying that something might break.
I think driving would be the best choice.

QuakeCon's hotel is at the Gaylord hotel. I have seen pictures of it and it looks very nice.
I might be able to go to Pax after all. It all depends on when we are flying to Seattle for our vacation. I dunno. Looks intresting indeed!

John Carmack!
PSSH!
PAX has table top roleplaying, linked console games, AND the premiere of the Red vs. Blue DVD.
And you dont have to go to TEXAS (hell on earth) to be there.
Beat THAT.

Why would I want to pay $13 to go to a lan?

Well, money doesn;t grow on freakin trees.
It's to help fund the thing.
PAX is alot less corporate.
And again, you dont have to go to Texas.
Being in texas is a major downer for Quakecon, but hey your call guys.

It doesn't matter which one you go to, you're going to be paying more than that. It costs money to get there you know, unless you live right down the street.

It's Texas.
Utah may be america's anus, but Texas is america's skid mark.

You don't know what a skid mark is?
Or are you just not sure how to take skid mark as an insult?
I'm guessing the first one, because if you knew it would be obvious.
(skid mark is like, if someone takes a shit and doesnt wipe good, good so it leaves streaks of shit in their undies, i.e. skid marks.)
And that was my comparison.
