I played the multiplayer demo, and it's easily the most suspensful fun I've ever had in an MP game. The singleplayer demo is a bit more meh, and because of that and the lukewarm reviews (bugginess, spotty AI, annoying over-scripted feel), I haven't actually purchased the game. I'm very, very tempted to get it, if only for the wonderful multiplayer game.
I also couldn't get anti-aliasing to work. Ever since I bought my 9800 Pro, I've been cranking AA up to x6 (the highest the board will let me) in every game using the ATI control panel. For some reason, a few games (Hitman 2 and now SC:PT, and I'm sure others that I have not played) will not let me turn on AA, no matter what. Having used AA for some time now, any game I play without it - I don't even play HL without AA and anisotropic filtering up to the max - looks like garbage in my eyes. It's a small issue, as I enjoyed Hitman 2 without AA, but annoying nonetheless.

Well, i play the XBOX cersion, because i cannot stand playing action games with a keyboard.
Drives me NUTS.
As far as those reviews, they are fulll of it. For one, there are very very few bugs, i've only noticed one or two.
Second, the AI is a little dumb, but only in the right context, in some areas (i wont say where by "high tense" situations) is better.
As for the over-scripted feel, this is a Tom Clancy game, this game is intended to have a very movie-like plot, with alot of scripted plot twists and suspense.
If you are one of those people that really needs an open-ended gameplay ideal, then this aint for you.
Also, i dont know what the Single player demo's level is, but the first levels sorta suck, once you get to like. the Last two levels, and the train level. The train level is freakin AWESOME.

I'll try to rent it sometime and then I'll let you know what I think.

The PC version has more bugs than the XBOX version (I've read reviews for both versions). And by over-scripted feel, I mean that the levels feel too linear, that even areas that don't impact the storyline greatly only have one real track of progression with minimal variation allowed.
The SP demo has the train level (which, you're right, is really cool) and the first in the series of levels where you infiltrate some underground sub pen.

In any case, I just got Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, which will satisfy my Tom Clancy needs for some time to come (it's a great game, although the storyline borders on the absurd). I got the expansion from a friend a while ago, so I felt obligated to go out and get it. Now, if I can just find those CDs . . .

Narfwak, the over-scripted feel is just the way things are.
The first one was like that.
The single player is mainly just for the awesome plot.
Otherwise its all about the multiplayer.
Xbox Live is great to play on, and it is really fun.
The voice features tie in really well, tand theres alot of teamwork.
The spies only get shocker-guns not real guns, because otherwise they would always win, its easy to hide as a spy, but the spies have to use their abilities without guns to completel their objectives.
Its really really good.

Didn't I already tell you I thought the multiplayer was genius? That's right, I did. Stop patronizing me.

That comment about the multiplayer wasnt directed at you in particular.
It was directed to anyone who hasn't played the multiplayer.
