It's much better than BF:V. It has an incomparably better engine, better mod support and more mods, extremely high production values, and a large customization community (models, maps, that sort of thing).

Even if you're not into the whole "Classic Sci-Fi FPS Game" thing, it's a must-buy; several great realism mods were already available at release due to the ingenious $1,000,000 "Make Something Unreal" contest.

You listed like 6 Pro's involving mods....

Personally i dont give a fuck about mods.

They dont have the big budgets required to make a game worth anything.

And the main reasson im not a fan of the Unreal series is because i really dont like the "Classic sci-Fi FPS Game"

Been there done that.

Besides BF: Vietnam has a very different feel.

I dont like the feel of UT games, they always seem so, independant.

I like having to have 3 other guys to actually use a helicopter to its fullest.

And BF:V's soundtrack is the best soundtrack any game has ever had.

EVER.

But this war is a war of personal opinion, while BF:Vietnam won the gamespy grudge, i seriously dont care which one you like, theres no point in arguing to change other peoples opinions, because it isnt going to happen.

*edit*

And I really love it, because its the first Vietnam FPS thats actually fucking POPULAR.

Im sick of Tactical/Scifi. or worst of all the most popular FPS ever. WORLD WAR FUCKING 2. ENOUGH WW2. OK.

UT is a good ENGINE they just have to do something cool with it other than deathmatch multiplayer ;)

And plus, Battlefield engine (dunno name) has the vehicle system perfected.

picking up a tank with a chinook and dropping it onto a cap point while a huey gunship covers you, and players land from a huey transport ship is a beautiful thing.

I see alot of teamwork in the multiplayer pubs, its quite nice.

do you have to pay 10$ a month to play? the game sounds kinda neat to me now.

yeah i said neat.

well onslaugh is actualy cool, and is like others taking points games, but with vehicles, but the bombing run is actualy fun, that weird soccer or football kind of gameplay is cool, and oh well i s a good engine to work on, and you can make some great things with it

Gives camper whores too much power.

It has vehicles, and a point control system similar to a cross between BF:V and Planetside. The maps are superb, the vehicles insane (hearing the announcer belt out "VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER!" every time you crush some poor fellow under your wheels is godly), and it all runs better than anything on the BF engine.

trust me, their vehicle abilities and selection will never match BF:V.

plus BF:V has more shelflife.

Not to mention you claim that ut2k4 is more modder friendly, but what about the bf1942 engine, which spawned Desert combat, which rivals CS for the greatest mod of all time?

I dont see ut2k4 churning out godlike acceptance.

I guess this is a battle of New meets old.

ut2k4 is the newer product of a long series of fans, start from unreal I, which alot were brought along with quake series.

And battlefield, is the new generations creation, as far as epic games go.

And narfwak, hearing the announcer talked was always what bothered me, because it just tells you that youre ina gladiator-type thing.

I never really liked the idea of in the future we have death as a form of entertainment, so that always bothered me.

But im biased, because i have been praying every night since Medal of Honor that someone would make a good vietnam fps.

And now that they have a good, and POPULAR one i am in heaven.

OK, there's a fundamental difference between the games...

If you like realism and war and stuff, then get Battlefield Vietnam.

If you like fun, then get UT2004.

It's just that simple.

I know I have both games (let's not talk about how...) and I play UT2004 way more than B:V, it's just so much more fun, there's so much more to do, there's so much mod and map support already for that game. There's already been like 50 decent maps out for it... 3 whole mods, and everything else that you could want. It's just going to get better.

/me shrugs

I have never found the UT series fun.

Their maps are all irritating, and the game itself is just pissy.

And don'tget me started about modders.

I said it in IRC illl say it here.

<+Snak3[TN]> Modders are fucking idiots, all of them, they dont make anything GOOD if a modder actually made a mod worth two shits I would EXPLODE

Counter-Strike?

The Unreal Tournament Series was too futuristic for me. Its fun, no doubt about that, but not my type of game.

I fucking HATE Desert combat.

When I say Greatest, I mean SIZE wise.

The internet seems to love CS/Desert Combat, but i hate them both.

What game were in a clan for last snak3...

Wtf is that english?

I dont even know wtf that was.

Was it "What was the last game you were in a clan in snak3?"

If so, counter-strike.

I semi-liked it awhile back.

PLus a buncha my friends played it, and they would always yak about it, and i felt left out, so i started playing.

then our clan joined cal, and we sucked, so i had a reason to leave.

good days.

peer-pressure always wins.
