TrueNuff: Technical Difficulties

Posted September 9, 2009 at 9:58 AM by Threeboy
Image Some of the Nuffies (our hardcore peeps) might have noticed the forums were down for the last couple days. Don't worry, we were jonesin' as much as you were. The problem was with some server hardware and it's been temporarily fixed by our host who is working to permanently resolve the issue.

I've also been dealing with some hardware problems of my own. Two of my hard drives burnt out on my computer, which I call THE DEATHSTAR. Many bothan porn files were lost. I'm looking into ancient Jedi rituals to reclaim the lost data but decided to purchase two new drives to get THE DEATHSTAR fully operational to "destroy planets" with it's powerful "lasers" - pew pew!

On the content side of things we're back in the saddle and ready to rock & roll - there's a sketch filming this weekend and we're firing up comic meetings next week - I'm not making any promises, or dates, regarding new content so y'all know what to do.

Lookin' for love on all the wrong websites.

I'm seriously considering a new computer given how many hard drives my current build has eaten in the last two years. Plus, my CPU can't be upgraded past the dual core 4200 I've currently got cause the mobo is getting a bit old. Dammit, it all costs to much! So I feel your pain!

My next laptop *might* be a Mac, it's on the list of possibilities!

yeah, my desktop "Frankenstein" decided to give up the ghost a couple weeks ago...
It just stopped one day, when you fire it up, the LEDs light up, the fans spin... thats it...
No screen, no post, not even the HDDs spin up...

Ive got a lot of parts laying around right now, im thinking about building what i would call a "naked case" to put them in. I have everything i need to make a machine except the case. I think im going to mount the MB on a piece of wood and then build little mounting structures for PCI cards and the like....have everything just naked in the open like that. Although the other day i thought it might be fun to build a computer onto an old box-fan...super cooling! haha!

super cooling yes, also superdust bunnies...

P.S. James, i love the image in the first post, its an apt metaphor... On the flip side, no one likes to see a beer go out like that...

it does indeed...
but tis a tragedy easily avoided... one must keep ones mind on ones beer, especially if its in the freezer...

Yeah, whats worse is when you're carrying a 12pack and the handle breaks and you watch as it slowly falls to the ground...you hear them calling out like children in a failing ski-lift...plummeting...heading for certain death...then when the lift is found, dented all over from the impact, you discover that only one or two of the children (beers) have fallen into the black ink of Hades' domain...but you are ever thankful that not all of them were sacrificed...

That was fucking dark...
